Things

1. Poor Tigers. Lost to Texas. They'll be back stronger than ever next year.

2. Poor U of M. (Over)ranked #11 and lose to arch rivals MSU. Darn. On another note, I looked on stub hub for UM vs OSU tickets for Nov. 26 and the cheapest was $159 per ticket. You've got to be kidding me. No go.

3. I will be leaving home Nov. 12 and not returning until 2012. You know what makes me the most sad? I won't be able to put up any of my Christmas decorations this year. If you know me, you know that I of course go "all out" for Christmas and decorating and wrapping presents is my favorite part. Boo.

4. Brian and I will be in the same place at the same time for 11 days between Oct 1 and November 18. Need I say anymore? Looking forward to Thanksgiving and Christmas!

5. We have roommates living here for an undetermined length of time. Great friends and people, but still... it's roommates. We have 1 TV, 1 couch, meal cooking can be tricky... it's just not my favorite scenario in the world. I'm not ungrateful that they watch over our house and dog, but just sympathize with me, OK?

6. Five years = November 14. Me in Orlando. Him in Vegas. Another Boo.

Aww, our first picture together! In which many people say we look like brother and sister.  That's a bit weird!

7. I love Colorado weather. Today, mid-October and mid-80s. Beautiful day with snow capped mountains, blue skies, yellow leaves, lunch and shopping outside in Boulder. Ironic that I was buying Christmas candles? Maybe.

8. I also bought Christmas cards today. I have no idea how I'm going to transport all of the "things" I need for Nov. 12 - January 2 in just two suitcases, including work clothes for events in NYC, Atlanta, and Orlando (different climates much?) but priorities, OK? Christmas cards!

9. We had a FABULOUS time in California. I need to do a whole post, but the short of it is that my only regret was that we did not go for a longer period of time. We tossed around the idea when we were making plans and decided not to. Big mistake. We needed a vacation. The weather wasn't perfect (but the hotels were!), the food and wine were plentiful, and the relaxation was so overly welcome.

10. I LOVE Parenthood. And the new Tim Allen show, Last Man Standing. Pretty much my only two shows that I keep up on. Can Parenthood ever have a episode that doesn't bring tears to your eyes? Sheesh!

11. These curtains were a success when they arrived. Although they still sit in a pile on the floor. You know, that whole "only in the same place at the same time for 11 days."

12. I'm still doing Reformer Pilates and I LOVE it. LOVE, LOVE, LOVE it. I'm going to have to locate some studios in the locations I'll be in for November and December. I purchased another "Groupon" type of deal for 5 more classes at a different studio for $60. Glad to continue this activity at a discounted rate, at least for the time being.

13. I'm addicted to Pinterest, literally. Did you know you can essentially use a board as an ongoing wish list? Brilliant, I tell you.

14. I finally purchased a fall coat. This one, to be exact.

15. I love that in NY you can be at a store, they don't have what you "need," you have to get back to a business meeting, so they call another store and have them courier a package with your item to you at the hotel. Fabulous big city conveniences. Bummer that the shoes were damaged so I had to deal with having another pair sent to me in Colorado.

16. I have kicked the nail biting habit for good! I have not bit my nails since August and have had two manicures. I'm now addicted to having them painted. That proves to be quite costly... I better learn to paint them myself soon here. So proud of my accomplishment, you know after 26 years of life I'm glad I finally got it together.  Going along with the whole nails thing, I'm now a nail polish hoarder. Essie Wicked, Essie Carry On, and Ulta Smoke Screen are my current favs. Now if only I could learn to use them as opposed to taking them with me to Ten20! :)

17. We saw "I Don't Know How She Does It," with Sarah Jessica Parker, and it was cute. I really relate to all her "going to bed and making lists in her head."

18. The joke on our trip, after sampling some lovely Syrah, was that I now needed another dog so I could name it Syrah. Brian doesn't think that's a funny joke (although HE developed it). No worries, Ries could never handle not being the "only child." That little diva dog.

19. I'm on a mission to have meals at our favorite places before I don't have access to them for 6 weeks. We tried for Pasta Jay's last night and I've never seen as many people waiting for a table as there were last night. I had to settle for another place and you know how when you really had your heart set on something, the substitute will never live up? Well, that was the case. Even if it had been amazing I still think I would have said it was awful. I just wanted my gnocchi!

20. My iPhoto is broke for some reason. It keeps crashing every time I edit or try to import photos. Of course, this was my "evening plan," to sit down and sort out recent photos, make CDs, order pictures, etc. Genius Bar appointment set for tomorrow. Here's to hoping they can fix my problem.

21. Florence and the Machine has a new CD coming out soon. I've already pre-ordered on iTunes and cannot wait. And yes, I'm still addicted to playing Adele on repeat. One "perk" of Brian being gone so much, he doesn't know/complain that I play it on repeat.

22. I've recently bought 2 books that I had already read and didn't realize it until I sat down and started (re)reading them. Sigh. I do that way too often because I can NEVER remember what a book is about. I also started a book en route to vacation and accidentally LEFT the book on the plane. That was a major bummer.

23. I am in the running for a trip to Cabo (with a guest!) in February, through work. I'm not even a Mexico fan and I still can't stop thinking about how lovely it would be. I'm not even sure when winners are announced, but I can keep dreaming about it.

24. My flight to Michigan after Thanksgiving and from Michigan to Chicago on Christmas Day are $38 each. THIRTY EIGHT. Darn Ries is going to cost me SEVENTY FIVE for each of those flights. I don't know whether to be ecstatic about the $38 or so overly irritated about the $75.

25. I still haven't been able to make Ham and Potato soup because it hasn't been cold enough. Grr! Hoping for this week. I'm on my standard "rotation" of meals for when Brian is out of town - Spaghetti, Macaroni/Bacon/Green Pepper/Onion/Tomato, Tacos, and throw in Subway or Panera. A little Ham & Potato soup would be a nice toss up!

26. Only I would walk into a tasting room and immediately ask about their interior designer so I could find out what the fabric was for their curtains. They need to reside in my living room pronto, and I have the interior designer's card, so hopefully I'll receive some information. Although, I'm betting they are custom made from calico corner fabric. Certainly won't be in my budget.

27. I have a headlight out. I have a broken hood that does not open and therefore said headlight cannot be replaced. Therefore I also cannot drive at night. Car will be taken to the repair shop on Monday and then they have to order the part and hopefully (since Brian's out of town), they'll replace my headlight with the one we've already bought. Seriously, my car is such a piece of you know what. I'm sure that's not the first time you've heard me rant and rave about it. I wish those car commercials that they play at Christmas actually happened in real life and "Santa" bought people new cars. Seriously, who actually buys someone a car for Christmas?! If that was real, I'd take a Subaru Outback, please and thanks.

28. I bought a sewing machine and haven't sewn anything. Figures.

29. I made a delicious Cucumber Salad, compliments of my friend Karen's recipe:
1 cucumber diced, 1 package of small Cherry or Grape tomatoes (cut in half), 1/2 green pepper diced, 1/4 medium red onion diced, 1 can of chickpeas (rinsed and drained), fresh oregano and basil (to taste), garlic salt and pepper (to taste). Chill in fridge for an hour before serving. 2 Tbsp. of olive oil and 4-5 Tbsp. of balsamic vinegar when ready to serve.
30. I recently used "flex dollars" to purchase new eye glasses and prescription sunglasses. Prescription sunglass seriously might be the best investment I've ever made. I don't wear my contacts too often anymore (too much computer eye strain I think) so the sunglasses are fantastic for when I go outside here in sunny Colorado.

Ok, 30 things for about a month of no real posts... random things, perhaps... but life information nonetheless. That's all she wrote...

Holy moly girl! I can't wait to catch up Wednesday even though we probably won't be able to cover half of this list. I am specifically interested in your Pilates, your roomates, how you stopped biting your nails and work...put it on the agenda :)

3 things:
1. LOVE that long dress you're wearing in front of the barrels
and
2. Prescription sunglasses changed my life. I'm not a big contact wearer either and I have no idea how I lived so long without rx sunglasses!
3. I can't believe how much you travel! You must rack up some serious hotel and airline points.

Wow honey- just read your posts- what a way to catch up! I always love to read what is going on and happening in your life. It doesn't seem like we get to catch up as much as I'd like- but I can't wait for you to come back home to Michigan in November and then for Christmas!!
